Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Solar Apprentice to support O&M activities at utility-scale Solar Energy Plants in Charles City, VA. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PV sites, assist with electrical troubleshooting and calibration, and learn switching procedures under supervision.

The role requires safety-focused individuals with basic electrical knowledge, strong communication, and willingness to travel to regional sites. On-call duties and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
Technical degree or Solar certification preferred
Experience with electrical systems and safety procedures is essential

Responsibilities

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on solar PV sites and substations.
Assist with electrical troubleshooting and instrumentation calibration.
Learn to prepare switching and clearance orders.
Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
Complete required paperwork and safety documentation.
Travel to regional sites and participate in on-call duties
