Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy is seeking a Site Technician to support operation and maintenance at our Hartford City, IN facilities. You will perform routine maintenance on solar equipment, log activities in CMMS, and follow strict safety protocols.

This is an onsite role requiring basic electrical/mechanical aptitude, ability to lift 50 lbs, and teamwork with site leads. The position offers ongoing training and career growth within our growing solar fleet.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision.
  • Record maintenance activities in CMMS, including work order creation, updates, and closure.
  • Follow safety protocols, PPE, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices.
  • Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, documenting issues and solutions.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills in solar plant operations.
  • Assist in handling and organizing tools, equipment, and materials for maintenance tasks.
  • Work closely with higher-level technicians and the Site Lead to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Lift, push, pull, or carry items up to 50 lbs; work in various weather conditions.

LRE is currently seeking a Solar Technician at our Hartford City, Indiana facility.

Job Requirements:
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision. Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work Order Management: Accurately record all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work order creation, updates, and closure.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices to minimize risks.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, including documenting issues encountered, solutions implemented, and recommendations for future work.
  • Learning & Development: Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and knowledge in solar plant operations. Participate in company-provided training programs to advance to higher levels within the solar technician career path.
  • Equipment Handling: Assist in handling and organizing tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance tasks. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and stored.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with higher-level technicians and the Site Lead to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Follow instructions and seek guidance when needed to ensure safe and accurate execution of work.
  • Physical Work: Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 50 lbs. Work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.

Physical Demands:

  • Comfort working in confined spaces and exposed to inclement weather conditions.
  • Position requires extended periods of standing and walking.

The Site Technician will be located onsite at various wind/solar/BESS facilities in the US.
