Job summary

Walbec invites applications for a Solar Project Manager Summer 2027 Internship to support planning, scheduling, budgeting, and communications on solar construction projects across the Midwest. You will work with project teams, subcontractors, and clients while gaining hands-on field experience.

This internship emphasizes practical learning in project documentation, safety initiatives, site audits, and exposure to the financial and operational aspects of utility-scale solar projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• Strong interest in renewable energy, construction, and project management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers in planning, coordination, and execution of solar construction projects.
• Assist with project scheduling, documentation, budget tracking, reporting, and team communications.
• Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to support project activities and resolve issues.
• Participate in project meetings, prepare reports, and track key action items and deliverables.
• Assist with monitoring project progress, costs, productivity, and schedule performance.
• Support project documentation, contract administration, and recordkeeping efforts.
• Participate in field visits, safety initiatives, and site audits to gain hands-on construction experience.
• Learn project management tools, processes, and best practices used in renewable energy construction.
• Gain exposure to the technical, operational, and financial aspects of utility-scale solar projects.
• Travel to project sites as needed to support project activities and professional development.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• Interest in renewable energy, construction, and project management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
