Position
Independent and autonomous management of solar construction projects of various sizes and complexities from pre‑construction to project closeout using company processes and procedures, ensuring planned profits are met or exceeded.
Responsibilities
- Understand Project Management process and tools: project scheduling, financial reporting and budget management, project communication plan, contracts, BIM tools, and other project related processes.
- Manage all financial aspects of projects.
- Listen to client and subcontractor concerns, identify issues and react accordingly.
- Provide conceptual information to groups to illustrate ideas and concepts.
- Facilitate and lead productive/effective meetings.
- Prepare project baseline schedules and schedule updates through the life of the project; use actual versus baseline to substantiate delays and impacts as appropriate.
- Track financial budget versus actuals, manage and mitigate.
- Track field productivity estimate versus actual, and course‑correct to protect labor budget and project profit.
- Own project safety: weekly audits, incident investigation and reporting; contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Identify project impacts and delays, send timely notifications per the contract documents, and prepare detailed documentation to submit claims.
- Problem‑solve, understand root causes, develop solutions, and follow through implementation.
- Comprehend complex concepts of a project and manage for success.
- Overnight travel 3‑4 days per week throughout the Midwest.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the Solar Industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or applicable equivalent training/experience (preferred). Geotechnical experience is a plus.
- Robust knowledge of installation of all electrical systems, specifically PV / DC systems.
- Estimating takeoff capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel expert.
- Effective and professional communication, oral and written.
- Effective problem‑solving with the ability to make time‑sensitive decisions in complex situations.
- Self‑motivated, highly organized, detail‑oriented.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
