A well-capitalized renewable energy developer and owner-operator is seeking a Solar Construction Project Manager to support a growing portfolio of commercial and multifamily solar projects throughout New York City.
You'll be responsible for managing projects from notice to proceed through construction, commissioning, utility approvals, and final closeout. The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating multiple active projects simultaneously, working closely with contractors, engineers, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 10-15 active solar construction projects concurrently.
- Coordinate EPCs, contractors, engineers, inspectors, utilities, and equipment suppliers.
- Monitor project schedules, milestones, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
- Conduct site visits to track construction progress and resolve field issues.
- Support project handoff from development into construction.
- Track permits, inspections, utility approvals, commissioning, and PTO milestones.
- Manage punch lists, closeout documentation, and project turnover to operations.
- Maintain accurate project reporting, schedules, and documentation.
- Escalate schedule, quality, safety, or contractor-performance issues when required.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in solar, electrical construction, general construction, engineering, real estate development, or a related project management environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with construction schedules, contractors, field activities, inspections, and project closeout.
- Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout New York City.
Preferred Experience
- Commercial, community solar, or multifamily rooftop solar experience.
- Experience working for a solar developer, EPC, contractor, engineering firm, or owner's representative.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch lists.
- Knowledge of NYC permitting, utility interconnection processes, and project commissioning.
- Experience using project management or construction management software.
- Previous experience managing numerous smaller projects rather than a single large-scale build.
Ideal Candidate
- Highly organized and proactive.
- Strong relationship-builder with contractors and vendors.
- Comfortable taking ownership and driving projects forward.
- Able to identify issues early and develop practical solutions.
- Thrives in a growing, entrepreneurial environment.
Please note: Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience delivering construction projects in the New York City market and managing multiple projects concurrently.
