Job description

Fieldston Power is a New York City distributed energy resources developer and independent power producer focused on decarbonizing the built environment throughout the five boroughs and greater metropolitan area.

We finance, design, develop, own, and operate technologies that reduce energy costs for buildings and surrounding communities, lower operating expenses, and contribute to a more resilient electric grid.

In 2025, Fieldston Power developed 3.5 MW of community distributed generation solar across 73 multifamily buildings in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and upper Manhattan. We are currently advancing an additional 5 MW and have secured a pipeline capable of supporting more than 12 MW of annual development as we continue scaling solar and energy storage throughout the New York market.

THE POSITION

Fieldston Power is seeking a hands-on Solar Construction Project Manager to support the execution of a growing portfolio of C+I CDG solar projects throughout New York City.

Working under Fieldston’s operations leadership, this individual will help manage projects primarily from NTP through construction, commissioning, PTO, closeout, and turnover to asset management.

The role is ideally intended for someone who has experience coordinating active construction on solar projects, but is also suited for super skilled, ultra organized and incredibly personable project management professionals interested in learning Fieldston’s owner-side processes and growing into greater responsibility over time.

The successful candidate will be organized, responsive, detail-oriented, comfortable working in an incredibly fast pased environment, expert at managing and motivating contractors and vendors, and able to spend time both in the office and at project sites.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction and EPC Coordination

  • Support the day-to-day advancement of assigned solar construction projects.
  • Coordinate with EPCs, engineers, roofers, expediters, inspectors, equipment providers, and other outside vendors.
  • Participate in recurring project meetings and maintain action items, responsible parties, and deadlines.
  • Track EPC schedules, upcoming milestones, open issues, and potential delays.
  • Follow up consistently with vendors and outside parties to keep projects moving.
  • Conduct project-site visits throughout the five boroughs to document progress and identify visible issues.
  • Verify project updates through photographs, field observations, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the coordination of equipment deliveries, mobilization, installation, inspections, testing, and commissioning.
  • Escalate schedule, quality, access, design, or vendor-performance issues to operations leadership.

Construction Readiness

  • Assist with the handoff of projects from predevelopment into construction.
  • Track design completion, permit status, utility approvals, structural requirements, roof readiness, site access, and equipment availability.
  • Identify missing documents or unresolved issues that could delay mobilization.
  • Maintain construction-readiness and handoff checklists for assigned projects.

Permitting, Utility and Inspection Tracking

  • Track project dependencies involving engineers, expediters, DOB, Con Edison, inspectors, commissioning providers, and other third parties.
  • Monitor electrical permits, building permits, inspections, meter installation, utility testing, and PTO.
  • Maintain accurate next actions, responsible parties, and target dates.
  • Follow up on outstanding applications, approvals, inspections, and corrective work.

Commissioning and Closeout

  • Assist with commissioning coordination, independent engineer walks, punch lists, and corrective work.
  • Track completion of open punch-list items and required closeout documentation.
  • Collect and organize as-built drawings, warranties, inspection results, commissioning records, utility documentation, equipment information, and O&M materials.
  • Support the handoff of completed projects to asset management and O&M.
  • Continue tracking open EPC obligations through final completion.

Project Controls and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project status, milestone dates, risks, next actions, and supporting documentation within Fieldston’s project-management systems.
  • Prepare weekly project updates for operations leadership.
  • Identify projects requiring immediate attention or management escalation.
  • Follow Fieldston’s standardized project stages, reporting requirements, and document-control procedures.
  • Assist with improving templates, trackers, checklists, and workflows as the portfolio grows.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Three+ years of experience in solar, electrical construction, general construction, engineering, real estate development, or a related construction/project-management environment.
  • Experience supporting or managing multiple active projects at the same time.
  • Direct exposure to construction schedules, contractors, field activities, inspections, or project closeout.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate project records and consistently follow up on open items.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with standardized processes, project-management systems, and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, accept feedback, and adapt as Fieldston’s procedures continue to develop.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to project locations throughout New York City.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Commercial, community, or multifamily rooftop solar experience.
  • Experience working for a solar EPC, developer, IPP, engineering firm, contractor, or owner’s representative.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, one-lines, scopes of work, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and punch lists.
  • Exposure to Con Edison interconnection, NYC DOB permitting, inspections, commissioning, or PTO.
  • Familiarity with NYSERDA programs or community distributed generation.
  • Experience with project-management, construction-management, or CRM platforms.
  • Experience coordinating several smaller projects simultaneously rather than one large construction site.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate is:

  • Organized and comfortable managing numerous open items.
  • Persistent in following up with contractors and vendors.
  • Comfortable asking questions and learning from more experienced team members.
  • Receptive to feedback and willing to work within established processes.

  • Interested in growing into broader project ownership as experience and performance develop.
  • Comfortable working in a growing company where priorities and processes continue to evolve.

LOCATION

This position is based in New York City. Candidates must currently be located in the New York metropolitan market or be able to relocate immediately. The role requires regular office attendance and project-site visits throughout the five boroughs.

COMPENSATION

Compensation will be based on relevant experience and demonstrated ability to manage active construction projects.
