Job summary

ACT Power Services seeks a Portfolio Engineer to act as the technical liaison for an expanding solar and storage O&M fleet. You will analyze performance, support maintenance planning, and present optimization recommendations to clients.

Role requires flexibility for hybrid work, occasional field visits, and travel across sites in the United States. You will lead meetings and deliver reports to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in engineering, technology, or physics; Associate with certs may count.
  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and operation in power generation or industrial facilities.
  • Experience with VBA, Python or equivalents.
  • Experience with PV technology, DC/AC systems, and network monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze performance of solar/storage projects via DAS/SCADA.
  • Serve as main technical contact for plants, clients, and field ops.
  • Prepare site performance reports for stakeholders.
  • Lead client calls and address technical issues.
  • Identify root causes and propose improvements for underperforming systems.
  • Develop procedures/tools for efficient operation of a diverse fleet.
  • Create tools to optimize organizational performance.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

ACT Power Service’s Portfolio Engineers are the technical liaisons of our O&M organization. This team of talented engineers provides oversight, management, technical support, and serves as our client interface for our rapidly growing operating fleet. This role requires a broad skill set and an ability to pivot from highly technical performance analysis and troubleshooting to maintenance support and planning to client presentations.

Each Portfolio Engineer will act as the main technical contact for assigned facilities that will range from 500kW to 200+MW in size. The Portfolio Engineer will lead internal and external meetings to discuss performance and optimization recommendations as well provide a variety of reports to both internal and external stakeholders.

This role is hybrid, sometimes in the field, and is not assigned to the ACT Power Services main office location. Employees primarily work from home or on customer sites where ACT Power Services provides Operations & Maintenance services. While the listed location(s) are preferred based on the primary site assignment, candidates residing in other locations may be considered. Travel to other sites across the United States may be required based on operational and business needs.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performance analysis of solar and/or storage projects through remote DAS and SCADA systems.
  • Provide a central point of contact and support for plant managers, field operators, utilities, and external clients regarding performance, control, and maintenance schedules.
  • Site performance reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead client calls and serve as client interface for technical issues
  • Root cause analysis and performance improvement recommendations of underperforming systems.
  • Develop procedures and tools necessary for the efficient operation of a diverse fleet of solar and storage facilities
  • Develop tools and process to optimize organizational performance
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors or Masters in technical field of study such as engineering, technology, or physics - an Associate degree with professional training or certifications may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree
  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and/or operation in a power generation facility or other industrial facilities
  • Experience with programing in VBA, Python, or equivalent
  • Experience with electrical maintenance, including PV technology, DC systems, AC systems, and network communications and monitoring
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Employees must be able to maintain unescorted access to NERC regulated facilities
  • Work is to be primarily performed in an office environment - however, expected to occasionally perform site visits for training and technical support
  • Must have the ability to travel to site locations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day).
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is sometimes performed outside in the field at job sites. Some sites have offices available. The ability to work in inclement weather conditions is required.
