Job summary

A solar installation company based in Brooklyn, NY seeks a motivated Solar Installer. As part of an installer team, you will be responsible for rooftop solar array installations ensuring compliance with safety protocols and building codes. Experience in construction, a valid NYS driver’s license, and OSHA certification are required. Competitive pay rates between $23–27/hr plus benefits including health insurance and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years driving experience with a clean record.
• Experience with solar equipment and installations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with all OSHA safety rules.
• Pack out equipment and materials from trucks.
• Assemble and install the support structure for solar PV panels.
• Drive to job locations as assigned.
• Build racking structures according to plans.
• Measure, cut, and wire solar arrays per specifications.
• Communicate with crew lead on daily activities.
• Remain on site until cleared to leave by crew lead.

Skills

Location: Brooklyn, NY | Reports to: Roof Installation Manager | Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 8 AM – 5 PM (some evenings/weekends).

About the Position

Brooklyn SolarWorks seeks a motivated, self‑starting individual to join our installer team. Roof installers work in teams of 3–5 to complete rooftop solar array installations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with all OSHA safety rules and protocols.
• Pack out equipment and materials from BSW trucks.
• Assemble and install the support structure for solar PV panels, ensuring waterproofing and adherence to building codes and manufacturing specifications.
• Drive to job locations as assigned by crew lead/manager.
• Build racking structures according to plan.
• Measure, cut, and wire up solar arrays to BSW specifications per the 3‑line diagram.
• Communicate with crew lead and team on daily activities, progress, and success.
• Remain on site until the crew lead/manager clears the team to leave.
• Carry out additional duties as required.
• Clean up job sites and lower materials from the roof after completion.

Required Skill Set

• Valid NYS driver’s license (minimum of 3 years, not including permit) and clean driving record.
• OSHA 30 certification + 10 SST required.
• 2 years of construction experience.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand, walk, and climb stairs/ladders.
• Comfort with heights/ladders.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent time management.
• Ability to travel and work irregular hours.

Compensation & Mobility Potential

Entry level: $23–27 /hr* (competitive compensation commensurate with experience, skills, certifications, and licenses).
