Job summary

ION Solar in Manassas, VA is seeking an Installer to assemble, install, and maintain solar PV systems on rooftops and in attics. You will read building plans, select components, and work with electricians to connect panels to the grid.

Ideal candidates have experience in solar, roofing, or construction, can read manuals, and operate hand and power tools safely. This role requires working at heights and adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical school training preferred.
• Experience in solar, roofing, or construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs.
• Configures PV systems based on site conditions and connects panels to the power grid.
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and crew safety.
• Complete projects within established policies and procedures.
• Ensures equipment is weather sealed.
• Performs routine maintenance on PV systems.
• Assist Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Details: Job Location: Nova Warehouse - Manassas, VA 20110, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $18.00 - $25.00 Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Installation - Maint - Repair, ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full-service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.

We are currently in search of a skilled Installer who will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining solar PV systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs
• Configures PV systems based on site conditions and customers needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
• Complete projects within established policies and procedures
• Ensures that equipment is weather sealed
• Performs routine maintenance on PV systems
• Responsible for assisting the Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of PV equipment and installation.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read building plans.
• Ability to read equipment manuals.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels.
• Ability to use ION technology, such as smartphones, Paycom, Field Pro, SalesForce, etc.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical school training preferred.
• Experience in solar, roofing, or construction preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work at great heights.
• Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment:

• PV installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid.
• PV installers work as part of a team. Installation of solar panels require the help of technicians and electricians.
