Job summary

Ion Solar is seeking an Installer in Meriden, CT, to assemble, install, and maintain residential PV systems on rooftops. The role requires climbing and working at heights, reading plans, and coordinating with electricians to connect to the electrical grid.

The position offers a full-time schedule, competitive wages between $60,000 and $70,000 annually, and benefits including health, vision, dental, 401K, paid time off, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical school training preferred.
• Experience in solar, roofing, or construction preferred.
• Ability to read building plans and equipment manuals.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs.
• Configures PV systems based on site conditions; connects panels to the power grid.
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and safety for the crew.
• Complete projects within established policies and procedures.
• Ensures equipment is weather sealed and well maintained.
• Performs routine maintenance on PV systems.
• Assist Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full-service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.

We are currently in search of a skilled Installer who will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining solar PV systems..

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs
• Configures PV systems based on site conditions and customers needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid
• Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
• Complete projects within established policies and procedures
• Ensures that equipment is weather sealed
• Performs routine maintenance on PV systems
• Responsible for assisting the Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of PV equipment and installation.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read building plans.
• Ability to read equipment manuals.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels.
• Ability to use ION technology, such as smartphones, Paycom, Field Pro, SalesForce, etc.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational or technical school training preferred.
• Experience in solar, roofing, or construction preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work at great heights.
• Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment:

• PV installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid.
• PV installers work as part of a team. Installation of solar panels require the help of technicians and electricians.
