Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Solar Apprentice to support O&M activities at utility-scale Solar Energy Plants in Surry, VA. You will assist with preventive and corrective maintenance, learn switching procedures, and help ensure safety and environmental standards are met.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic electrical/mechanical knowledge, and an interest in solar installations. This role offers growth within AES CE and requires outdoor work across sites.

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Preferred technical degree or Solar certification.
• Experience in solar system installation is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned O&M activities for solar PV sites and substations.
• Carry out corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance as qualified.
• Assist with electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and basic inverter troubleshooting.
• Learn/assist with switching and clearance orders.
• Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Support training and documentation for Plant Orders and Procedures.
• Adhere to Environmental and Safety requirements; document work.
