Job summary

Pure Power is seeking an engineering student to design commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems starting in June 2027. The internship offers exposure to electrical/structural drawings, interconnection support, and permit preparation, with in-office work in the Kansas City, KS area and periodic site visits.

The role includes developing AutoCAD construction documents, PV system design, and energy storage integration, with a hybrid in-office/remote schedule and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
• 1+ years' experience working with AutoCAD.
• Previous internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW.
• Integrate energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
• Develop specifications, collect data, and complete interconnection and permit applications.
• Travel to project sites to gather site-specific data as required.
• Site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using PVsyst.
• Some travel to sites beyond the office location.

Duration

This internship position runs from early June to end of August.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW in size.
• Integrating energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
• Develop specifications, collect data, and complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications.
• Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required.
• Site specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst.
• While most of this work will be carried out in Pure Power's office location(s) some travel to sites will be expected.

Location

This position will be based out of our exciting Kansas City, KS area office with the flexibility to work a hybrid in-office and remotely weekly schedule.

Salary Range

$21-30.00/Hour
