Job summary

Pure Power, an engineering firm specializing in large Solar PV systems, is seeking an engineering student for a summer internship to design commercial PV systems from 100 kW to 20 MW and to integrate energy storage solutions. The role involves creating construction documents, data collection, and assisting with interconnection and permit applications.

The position is based in Hoboken, NJ, with hybrid in-office and remote work, and may require travel to project sites for data gathering and PV

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related discipline.
• 1+ years’ experience working with AutoCAD.
• Previous internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm.

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW in size.
• Integrate energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
• Develop specifications, collect data, and complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications.
• Travel to project sites to gather site-specific data as required.
• Site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst.
• Some travel to sites for field work.

Pure Power is seeking an engineering student to design commercial and utility scale solar PV systems starting in June 2027.

Duration

This internship position runs from early June to end of August.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW in size.
• Integrating energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
• Develop specifications, collect data, and complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications.
• Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required.
• Site specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst.
• While most of this work will be carried out in Pure Power’s office location(s) some travel to sites will be expected.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related discipline.
• 1+ years’ experience working with AutoCAD.
• Previous internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm.

Location

This position will be based out of our exciting downtown Hoboken, NJ Headquarters with the flexibility to work a hybrid in-office and remotely weekly schedule. We are next to public transportation options from NYC and Northern NJ.

Salary Range

$21-27.00/Hour
