Job summary

Pure Power Engineering seeks an engineering student for a summer internship to design commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems, starting in June 2027. The role involves drafting construction documents, interconnection and permit applications, and data collection at project sites in a hybrid work setting from our Houston office.

The ideal candidate has a BS in electrical or mechanical engineering and AutoCAD experience, plus a prior internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
• 1+ years’ experience with AutoCAD.
• Previous internship in traditional building design with an MEP firm.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW in size.
• Integrate energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
• Develop specifications, collect data, and complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications.
• Travel to project sites to gather data as required.
• Perform site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using PVsyst.
• Occasional travel to sites with some work from Pure Power’s office locations.

Duration

This internship position runs from early June to end of August.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial PV solar systems between 100kW and 20MW in size.
• Integrating energy storage systems into the solar PV system.
• Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
• Develop specifications, collect data, and complete utility interconnection applications and building permit applications.
• Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site‑specific data, as required.
• Site specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst.
• While most of this work will be carried out in Pure Power’s office location(s) some travel to sites will be expected.

Location

This position will be based out of our exciting Houston office with the flexibility to work a hybrid in‑office and remotely weekly schedule.

Salary Range

$21-30.00/Hour
