Job summary

Sunrun is seeking an Electrical Trainee in Des Plaines, IL to assist Foreman and Electricians on residential solar installations. You will support electrical wiring, racking assembly, and site prep while learning safety practices and NEC standards.

This role combines hands-on fieldwork with on-the-job training and cross-team collaboration across installation crews. You’ll gain exposure to solar projects, equipment handling, and documentation, with opportunities for career growth in a rapidly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of electrical installation and repair experience.
• Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.
• Ability to perform all installation duties of Installer and Lead Installer.
• Professional appearance and customer interaction.
• Strong work ethic and craftsmanship with attention to detail.
• Basic computer knowledge: Excel and Word.
• Willingness to participate in Power+ cross-training across departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of electrical systems that interconnect the solar array to the grid power of our customer’s residential property
• Assist in the troubleshooting of system problems and help resolve electrical issues
• Assemble the racking and solar array when assigned
• Trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly
• Project clean up including client site and installation vehicle
• Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity
• Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards
• Develop a positive working dynamic within installation crew and branch co-workers
