Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Electrical Journeyman responsible for skilled craftsmanship in maintenance and installation of electrical systems. You will assemble, install, test, and repair wiring, motors, transformers, and lighting while following electrical codes and safety standards.

The role requires reading plans, working with high voltage systems, and coordinating with teams. A high school diploma or GED, plus two years of related experience and trade certification, are expected.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years of related experience.
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma.
• Apprentice aptitude test.
• Union specific training.
• Project specific/Mortenson training
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to speak and understand English (Spanish is a plus); read plans; emotional intelligence; operate tools and equipment.
• Strong teamwork orientation and professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers and transformers.
• Test systems with voltmeters and oscilloscopes for safety and compatibility.
• Install and repair motors, transformers, and lighting per codes and standards.
• Study plans and work orders to determine requirements and sequence.
• Repair and maintain high voltage systems.
• Read prints, layout work, and install new service.
• Maintain electrical systems and perform preventive maintenance.
• Attend to tool and supply readiness; organize work orders.
• Maintain safe work environment and comply with codes; stay updated on publications.
