Position Scope and Organizational Impact

Moss’ Solar Electrical Assistant Superintendents coordinate, plan, and support Superintendents, contractors, and craft activities on large utility solar projects. A positive attitude and behavior are essential as you will interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure high-quality installation of electrical components, including underground electrical collection systems.
  • Support oversight of drawings, constructability reviews, submittals, and feedback with the engineering team, ensuring materials, equipment, and workmanship meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Superintendents on project schedules, updates, and creating 3-week look-ahead plans.
  • Ensure teams have necessary resources and support.
  • Assist in quality control of work, both self-performed and subcontracted.
  • Manage connections to the power grid, coordinating with relevant personnel.
  • Supervise installation, splicing, and termination of fiber optic cables.
  • Participate in project meetings, liaise between field engineers and contractors to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor subcontractor procurement, staffing, schedules, and coordination.
  • Work with engineering to ensure accurate and timely transmission of plans, specifications, and RFIs.
  • Oversee safety, quality, and efficiency of subcontracted work.
  • Coach and train field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents.
  • Certify resource availability and support for work teams.
  • Produce reports and documentation, including operation instructions and Methods of Operation (MOPs).
  • Foster teamwork and provide performance feedback.
  • Participate in hiring, discipline, and dismissal decisions as needed.
  • Develop leadership potential within the team.
  • Handle open shop and union issues.
  • Maintain relationships with visitors, clients, architects, union reps, and subcontractors.
  • Manage site logistics efficiently, suggesting improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with medium voltage equipment, cable installation, and collection line construction.
  • Support experience on large self-perform projects.
  • Proficiency in testing, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage cables and equipment.
  • Knowledge of testing methods like Hi-pot, Megger, TTR, Doble, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical drawings, underground systems, transformers, SCADA, and testing/commissioning processes.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel 100% with rotations.
