Inman Solar seeks a Design Engineer to join our full-service solar team. You will contribute to all design stages of PV projects, creating construction drawings and coordinating with design, procurement and construction to deliver turnkey solutions.

The role emphasizes electrical and physical PV system considerations, with strong focus on project management, communication, and timely execution within a fast-growing solar sector.

Qualifications

• Educational background in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience preferred; CAD experience required.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Interest in sustainability and solar energy.
• High level of attention to detail, time management, and organization.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of external engineers and technicians to ensure successful solar project designs.
• Integral contributor to PV system design and construction drawings (layout, electrical design, installation details).
• Specify equipment and lead procurement decisions.
• Coordinate with installers to ensure correct and efficient installation.
• Travel to site to engage with constructors and support installation (roughly 10% travel).
• Perform PV production modeling and performance testing.
• Stay up to date with code requirements and industry standards.
• Review environmental studies and translate site-specific requirements to design.
