Job summary

Inman Solar is seeking a motivated Design Engineer to join the team, contributing across solar project design from concept to completion. You will create design drawings and coordinate between design, procurement and construction under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

The role emphasizes electrical and physical PV system considerations, strong project management, and clear communication to deliver high-quality, on-budget projects.

Qualifications

• Educational background or industry experience in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience preferred; CAD experience required.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Interest in sustainability and solar energy.
• High level of attention to detail, time management, and organization.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of external engineers and technicians to ensure the successful execution of solar project designs.
• Integral contributor to the design of PV systems producing construction quality drawings (physical layout, electrical design, installation details, etc.)
• Specify equipment and materials selection and lead procurement
• Coordinate with installers to ensure correct and efficient installation
• Travel to site to engage with constructors and support installation – expect roughly 10% travel
• Perform PV Production modeling and performance testing
• Stay up to date with code requirements and industry standards
• Review environmental studies (e.g. geotechnical reports, wetlands & wildlife studies) and translate site-specific requirements to design.
