Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Electrical Engineer I/II to join our Solar Team, providing electrical technical support across the construction lifecycle. The role involves leading electrical work, optimizing layout for collection systems, and interfacing with utilities on interconnection.

Positions are travel-based with assignments across varied projects; compensation depends on experience and location, with benefits included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Two years in electrical construction management or design preferred.
• Experience with NEC and NE safety code is beneficial.
• Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving and leadership are essential.
• Detail orientation to manage multiple project tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical lead and support for electrical portions of the project.
• Determine best layout of the collection system considering overhead/underground constraints.
• Review manufacturer data to define electrical scope and requirements.
• Verify construction aligns with electrical design drawings and QA/QC.
• Lead electrical engineering design and equipment procurement through submittals and RFIs.
• Provide technical expertise to all parties involved.
• Ensure subcontractors understand project scope during bidding and provide resources.
• Coordinate with local utilities to interconnect to the grid.
• Perform loss calculations (100% output/annualized).
