Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Soils Laboratory Technician to join our Birmingham team. No prior experience is required, as you’ll be guided by experienced professionals to learn to safely perform a variety of tasks in our concrete and soils laboratories.

Responsibilities include basic lab tests, sample prep, data entry, and maintaining QA/QC records. Opportunities for growth with certification progress and steady training are provided.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; paid training provided.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Will obtain lab certifications for the lab work performed; certifications may be required for soils and concrete labs.
• A valid driver's license if driving for ECS subsidiaries.
• Strong communication and basic math skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per day.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory tests on soil and construction material samples under supervision.
• Assist with sample preparation and testing procedures.
• Compile test results, data entry, data processing, and other administrative duties.
• Perform soils laboratory testing including Atterberg limits, gradation, swell, moisture, visual classifications, UCS, proctor tests.
