Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) is seeking a Field Technician to perform soils and concrete testing in the San Ramon, CA area. You will support geotechnical field operations, read plans, and maintain daily reports under project managers.

Responsibilities include density testing, field sheet preparation, and ensuring compliance with building codes. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 lbs are required, with travel across the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• ICC soils inspector certification required.
• ACI Field-Testing Technician Grade 1 certification.
• CPN Radiation Safety certification for Nuclear Soil Gauge.
• Minimum 2 years soils and concrete testing experience.
• OSHA 10 Hour certification.
• Strong communication skills and daily reporting proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and project instructions.
• Must be able to work in all regions of the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) is a leader in providing quality materials testing and construction inspection services. CEL is a union firm with its corporate headquarters located in San Ramon, CA and has full-service facilities in Northern California, Hawaii, and Utah.

Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Confirm recommendations of the geotechnical engineer, as described in the geotechnical reports implemented by the earthwork contractor.


• Must be able to read and understand plans and specifications.


• Confirm adherence to current regulatory agency's grading ordinances and building codes.


• Keep up to date on a daily basis, all current projects via project managers and other technicians/inspectors.


• Perform in place density tests.


• Keep an organized field file containing field and laboratory data, reports, letters, and other pertinent field documentation.


• Communicate clearly and daily with direct supervisor and with the project manager regarding all aspects of the field operations, including bringing on-site issues to the project manager's attention, prepare and review all field paperwork, maps and test sheets and submit them on a daily/weekly basis.


• Write daily field reports.

Minimum Requirements

• ICC Soils Special Inspector certification.


• ACI (American Concrete Institute) Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification.


• Certified in CPN Radiation Safety and use of Nuclear Soil Gauge.


• 2 years of soils and concrete testing experience


• OSHA 10 Hour Course completed w/ certification


• Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency for daily reporting.


• Ability to reach, analyze and interpret design plans and project instructions


• Must be able to work in all Regions of San Francisco Bay Area


• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean MVR


• Lift up to 50 Lbs.

Compensation

$53 - $53.69 hourly

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
