Job summary

Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) is hiring a Soils Inspector (Group 3) to join our Bay Area team in California. The role involves confirming geotechnical engineer recommendations, reading plans, and ensuring compliance with current grading ordinances and building codes.

You will perform in-place density tests, maintain field files, and submit daily field reports. A valid driver’s license and ability to work across the Bay Area are essential.

Qualifications

• ICC Soils Special Inspector certification.
• CPN Radiation Safety and use of Nuclear Soil Gauge.
• 2 years of soils and concrete testing experience.
• OSHA 10 Hour Course completed with certification.

Responsibilities

• Confirm recommendations of the geotechnical engineer and earthwork plans.
• Read and understand plans and specifications.
• Ensure adherence to current grading ordinances and building codes.
• Maintain daily project updates via project managers and technicians/inspectors.
• Perform in place density tests and compile data.
• Keep organized field files with field and lab data and reports.
• Submit daily/weekly field paperwork, maps and test sheets.
• Write daily field reports.

We are seeking a Soils Inspector (Group 3) to join our Bay Area team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Confirm recommendations of the geotechnical engineer, as described in the geotechnical reports implemented by the earthwork contractor.
• Must be able to read and understand plans and specifications.
• Confirm adherence to current regulatory agency's grading ordinances and building codes.
• Keep up to date on a daily basis, all current projects via project managers and other technicians/inspectors.
• Perform in place density tests.
• Keep an organized field file containing field and laboratory data, reports, letters, and other pertinent field documentation.
• Communicate clearly and daily with direct supervisor and with the project manager regarding all aspects of the field operations, including bringing on-site issues to the project manager's attention, prepare and review all field paperwork, maps and test sheets and submit them on a daily/weekly basis.
• Write daily field reports.
• ICC Soils Special Inspector certification.
• Certified in CPN Radiation Safety and use of Nuclear Soil Gauge.
• 2 years of soils and concrete testing experience
• OSHA 10 Hour Course completed w/ certification
• Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency for daily reporting.
• Ability to reach, analyze and interpret design plans and project instructions
• Must be able to work in all Regions of San Francisco Bay Area
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean MVR
• Lift up to 50 Lbs.

Compensation:

$53 - $53.69 hourly

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
