Job summary

EarthOptics in Emeryville, CA is hiring a part-time Production Technician for our onsite lab. You will perform daily soil processing tasks, adhere to SOPs and safety protocols, and maintain accurate records while handling soil samples and lab equipment.

The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and flexibility for a 30-hour week with varied shifts including weekends during peak season.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience acceptable.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced production or lab environment.
• Demonstrated reliability through consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Strong attention to detail for repetitive tasks with accuracy.
• Ability to follow SOPs, work instructions, and lab protocols precisely.
• Collaborative mindset with professional team interaction across functions.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including some after-hours/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support routine soil processing tasks in the lab, including sample prep and basic testing workflows.
• Learn and follow EarthOptics SOPs, safety protocols, and equipment guidelines.
• Receive, sort, label, package, store, and track soil samples per lab procedures.
• Operate basic lab/production equipment (ovens, grinders, sealers, scales) per SOPs.
• Maintain clean, safe, compliant production spaces.
• Document routine information to support sample tracking and production records.
• Collaborate with lab staff and primary operators for timely sample handling.
• Assist with FTIR and Elemental Analyzer workflows as directed.
