Job summary

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) seeks a Soil Conservation Technician trainee housed in the local Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) office. You will assist with inventory, layout, survey, design and inspection of soil and water conservation practices across counties and SWCD sites.

Responsibilities include developing plans, coordinating field visits, estimating costs, reviewing construction with landowners and contractors, and supporting outreach.

Responsibilities

• Develops soil and water conservation plans and practices that protect, conserve, and enhance natural resources.
• Completes the technical design and layout of conservation practices according to state and or NRCS standards and specifications.
• Informs and educates SWCD commissioners, staff, and the public and attends required meetings and trainings.
