Job summary

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch's Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship seeks a Soil Conservation Technician trainee located in the local SWCD office to assist with inventory, layout, survey, design and inspection of conservation practices.

The role supports field staff across counties, provides technical assistance, and helps educate landowners, staff, and contractors while promoting soil and water conservation programs.

• No specific education or experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develops soil and water conservation plans and practices that protect, conserve, and enhance natural resources.
• Completes the technical design and layout of conservation practices according to state and or NRCS standards and specifications.
• Informs and educates SWCD commissioners, staff, and the public and attends required meetings and trainings.
