Job summary

Jobtailor in Dearborn, MO is seeking a Quality Engineer to own and improve core quality metrics, including R/1000, CPU, CPR, and end-to-end performance. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; 2+ years in related work
• 2+ years with coding languages (C, C++, Python) and software analysis/testing
• Experience with CAN bus tech and diagnostic tools; defect tracking systems
• Experience with engineering tools, databases, and defect tracking (JIRA, IVS, VADR)
• Experience with service tools and workshop manuals; strong quality methodologies including 8D, Fishbone, and root cause analysis
• Proven ability to collaborate with upper management and peers in cross-functional teams
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available
• Master's degree and Six Sigma knowledge (Green/Black Belt) preferred

Responsibilities

• Own and improve core quality metrics including R/1000, CPU, CPR, and end-to-end performance
• Lead a unified quality agenda by consolidating issues from customer claims, DTC data, service turnaround speed, dealer special service handling, connected vehicle data, and warranty spend
• Represent the quality function at internal and cross-team quality forums
• Present findings, status, and recommendations
• Conduct root-cause and Pareto analysis for 12V battery, starter, and alternator failures across populations
• Drive timely resolution of priority quality items
• Assemble cross-functional support and engage SMEs to resolve customer issues
• Use coding and connected vehicle data to investigate and solve root causes
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual effort and streamline escalation

Job description

• Lead a unified quality agenda by consolidating issues from customer claims, DTC data, service turnaround speed, dealer special service handling, connected vehicle data, and warranty spend
• Represent the quality function at internal and cross-team quality forums

• Drive timely resolution of priority quality agenda items
• Assemble cross-functional support and engage subject-matter experts to resolve customer-facing issues
• Use coding and connected vehicle data to investigate, diagnose, and solve quality issues at their root cause
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual effort and streamline quality escalation management

Requirements

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar
• 2+ years of working experience with any computer language; preferably C, C++, Python, or equivalent
• 2+ years of working experience with Software Analysis/Testing, CAN bus technology and tools, including Log Review/Root Cause Analysis
• 2+ years of experience working with Engineering tools, Databases, and Defect Tracking Systems, including Diagnostic Engineering Tool, IVS, VADR, and JIRA
• 2+ years of working experience in Service Tools/Applications, such as FDRS, PTS, and workshop manuals
• 2+ years of experience with Quality methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis, 8D, Fishbone, Is/Is Not, and 3 legged 5 why
• 2+ years of experience working in a team collaboration environment with upper management and peers
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Visa sponsorship is not available
• Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, knowledge of Six-Sigma and/or Quality/Reliability tools, Green Belt and/or Black Belt, and grasp of vehicle electrical architectures and components are preferred
