What To Expect

The Systems Validation team is responsible for validating all software-driven, system-level vehicle requirements prior to any new hardware or software release or new product introduction. This includes inventing and building state-of-the-art automated test infrastructure to increase testing efficiency and precision throughout the development and validation cycle.

The team is seeking multiple software and systems engineers to support Drive Systems, Brakes, Steering, Suspension, Crash Safety, Thermal Management, HVAC, Body Controls, Lighting, Access Controls, Battery Management, Charging, Power Conversion, High and Low Voltage Power Distribution, and Autonomy.

In this role, you will design, execute, and automate test strategies to validate cutting-edge vehicle software systems. Your work will directly impact Tesla’s vehicle performance, reliability, and safety by ensuring seamless software integration across various subsystems.

What You'll Do

  1. Develop and execute comprehensive, system-level validation strategies for vehicle software, ensuring compliance with functional and performance requirements.
  2. Design and implement automated and manual test cases, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing methodologies.
  3. Develop test infrastructure and automation frameworks using Python, C++, and Rust to improve test efficiency and accuracy.
  4. Create prototype test setups to integrate new subsystems with simulated or actual vehicle components, utilizing software-driven test automation.
  5. Collaborate with software, hardware, modeling, controls, and development engineers to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues early in development.
  6. Analyze test results, generate reports, and recommend product improvements.
  7. Investigate real-world field issues, identify root causes, and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
  8. Continuously seek ways to improve safety, performance, and customer satisfaction with Tesla products.

What You'll Bring

  1. Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong fundamentals in electrical, mechanical, thermal, controls, and systems engineering concepts.
  3. Ability to analyze complex systems and develop comprehensive test coverage.
  4. Hands-on experience debugging complex systems involving networked microprocessors and software-controlled sensors and actuators.
  5. Experience with test automation, object-oriented software design (Python, C++, Rust), and debugging tools.
  6. Experience with HIL/SIL environments, test benches, and simulation-based validation.
  7. Experience with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic tools.
  8. Experience analyzing and parsing data to develop technical insights.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with cross-functional teams.
  10. Minimum 2 years’ experience utilizing the skills above.
