Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) in Virginia is seeking a Mid-Level Software Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute software test plans embedded with a government sponsor. You will work with Government Test and Evaluation staff and cross-functional teams to verify system requirements.

The role emphasizes automated testing where appropriate, risk-based test strategies, and collaboration across developers, testers, and end users to ensure readiness for customer use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in STEM or equivalent with 5+ years of experience.
• 5+ years as software test engineer, test automation engineer, or related.
• DoD security clearance and U.S. citizenship required.
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for verification and validation of integrated hardware and software systems.
• Review test strategies, plans, procedures, test cases, and results for traceability and adequacy.
• Develop and improve system, integration, regression, and acceptance testing approaches, including automation.
• Assess test evidence and recommend readiness for customer acceptance and operational use.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, defects, and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate test activities among Government stakeholders, development teams, and testers.
