Job summary

IDEMIA National Security Solutions is seeking a Software Systems Integration Engineer with a strong background in Linux systems, platform operations, automation, and DevOps. You will support the deployment, automation, modernization, monitoring, and sustainment of biometric and identity management systems for government customers.

This role may be remote and requires the ability to travel for assignments. Location: DC or Morgantown, WV preferred; remote work is eligible.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in systems and platform engineering, DevOps.
• 2 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience supporting Linux-based production systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated deployment solutions.
• Experience using Ansible in enterprise environments.
• Experience implementing or supporting system monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, deployment, and operational issues in production.

Responsibilities

• Perform O&M activities including troubleshooting, software updates, system monitoring, and operational support.
• Integrate software with biometric and identity management systems and databases.
• Architect solutions across applications, databases, cloud services, and hardware.
• Support deployment and lifecycle management with RPM-based deployment and cloud-native efforts.
• Design and maintain automation using Ansible, IaC, and scripting.
• Administer Linux-based production, development, and test environments.
• Implement infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and dashboards.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Collaborate with teams to improve deployment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Support platform reliability, capacity planning, and incident response.
• Maintain software baselines, repositories, and release artifacts.
• Support modernization including containerization, Kubernetes adoption, and cloud-native deployments.
• Document architectures, interfaces, deployments, and runbooks.
• Produce operational documentation and deployment standards.

Summary

IDEMIA National Security Solutions is seeking a Software Systems Integration Engineer with a well-rounded engineering background in Linux systems, platform operations, infrastructure automation, DevOps, and systems integration. This role supports the deployment, automation, modernization, monitoring, and sustainment of mission-critical biometric and identity management systems. The successful candidate will support customer environments requiring infrastructure automation, automated software deployments and CI/CD pipeline operations across development, test, and production environments.

Location: DC or Morgantown, WV preferred. Remote will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform operations and maintenance (O&M) activities including troubleshooting, defect resolution, software updates, system monitoring, performance tracking, and operational support.
• Integrate software with biometric systems, identity management systems, enterprise applications, databases, hardware, and third-party products.
• Architect software and systems integration solutions across applications, databases, cloud services, hardware, and external systems.
• Support application deployment and lifecycle management using RPM-based deployment methodologies while contributing to the organization’s transition toward containerized and cloud-native deployment architectures.
• Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions using Ansible, Infrastructure as Code, and scripting to support application installation, configuration management, patching, upgrades, deployment, and operational workflows.
• Administer and support Linux-based production, development, and test environments.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and release processes across development, test, and production environments to improve deployment reliability, consistency, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with software engineering, systems engineering, and operations teams to improve deployment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Support platform reliability, capacity planning, system health monitoring, and incident response activities.
• Maintain software baselines, source code repositories, release artifacts, and configuration records in accordance with established configuration management processes.
• Support modernization initiatives including legacy platform transformation, containerization, Kubernetes adoption, and cloud-native deployment architectures through proof-of-concept, migration, and integration activities.
• Document software architectures, system designs, interfaces, deployments, and implementation approaches.
• Develop operational documentation, deployment standards, and automation runbooks supporting both current-state and future-state platform architectures.
• Experience working in small teams.
• Ability to work multiple projects and problems in parallel.
• Ability and willingness to travel for some assignments.
• Occasional O&M support outside business hours.
