Job summary

Piper’s technology solutions is seeking a Software/System Tester to validate functionality, reliability, and performance across software and hardware integrations. You will execute structured testing in lab and field environments, document defects, and support resolutions with the development team.

The temporary full-time assignment spans 12 weeks in the San Diego area, with on-site work and occasional travel to customer locations.

Qualifications

Job description

The Software/System Tester will be responsible for validating the functionality, reliability, and performance of Piper’s technology solutions. The tester will execute structured testing of software, hardware integration, wired/wireless configurations and document defects for resolution by the development and engineering teams. This is a temporary fulltime assignment for 12 weeks to assist with standalone project.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test cases for system functionality.
• Perform software, integration, system, and regression testing.
• Validate both wired and wireless system configurations.
• Test system functionality in laboratory and field environments.
• Use Python to support testing, scripting, data collection, or test automation.
• Identify, reproduce, and document software and system defects.
• Maintain test results and defect records.
• Verify corrective actions and perform regression testing following software changes.
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware/software integration issues.
• Validate system configuration and performance prior to field deployment.
• Work directly with developers and engineering personnel to communicate test results and reproduce failures.
• Support testing and validation at customer or field locations as required.
• Prepare clear test documentation and summaries for the project team.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in software, system, integration, or QA testing.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Experience creating and executing test procedures and test cases.
• Ability to troubleshoot and document technical issues.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Familiarity with wired and wireless networking concepts.
• Ability to work with physical hardware as part of system testing.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work on‑site in the San Diego area and travel locally to field/customer locations as required.

Qualifications

• Degree or technical background in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, QA/testing, or a related discipline.
• Experience testing integrated hardware/software systems.
• Experience with transportation, IoT, networking, or field-deployed systems.
• Experience with automated testing and Python-based test scripts.
