Job Description
Hiring a Software Engineer with a large federal client. The Software Engineer will integrate existing test programs into a new development environment, working closely with engineering teams to migrate legacy systems and troubleshoot software-related issues. Your primary focus will be on software development and integration using LabVIEW and object-oriented programming languages, with hands-on lab work testing equipment and Units Under Test (UUT).
Responsibilities
- Integrate existing Test Program Sets (TPS) into new development environments, ensuring functionality and compatibility.
- Develop and modify test software applications using LabVIEW and C# (or similar object-oriented languages) for automated testing systems.
- Perform software debugging and troubleshooting in lab environments with test equipment and Units Under Test (UUT).
- Conduct integration testing between legacy hardware systems and new software platforms.
- Implement minor hardware modifications as needed to support software integration efforts.
- Work hands-on in the lab environment to validate test program functionality and identify software-related issues.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and customers regarding integration efforts and software development progress.
- Document software designs, integration procedures, and test results.
- Support requirements verification and validation through software testing.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical degree.
- 5 or more years of professional software development experience in testing, automation, or related roles.
- Proficient experience with LabVIEW programming and development (National Instruments ecosystem).
- Demonstrated professional experience with C# or similar object-oriented programming languages (Java, C++).
- Experience with software integration, debugging, and troubleshooting in hardware-in-the-loop or test system environments.
- Ability to work hands-on in lab environments with test equipment and hardware systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with focus on software-level debugging.
- Willing and able to travel up to 20%
- Willing and able to obtain a DoD security clearance
Desired:
- Experience with National Instruments products: TestStand, CVI, PXI systems, or related test platforms.
- Knowledge of Python, ANSI-C, or other scripting languages.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and understand basic circuit functionality.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment: digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators.
- Experience with Test Program Set (TPS) or Automated Test Equipment (ATE) development for aerospace/defense applications.
- Understanding of MIL-PRF-28800, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 standards.
- Experience migrating legacy test systems to modern platforms.
- Knowledge of US Air Force and/or Navy aviation maintenance organizational structure.
- Version control systems (Git, SVN) and software development lifecycle practices.
- Basic electrical engineering knowledge (circuit design, signal analysis).
- Product life cycle management IAW IEEE 15288.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 or CMMI quality process standards
