Job summary

VARGO is seeking an entry-level Software Support Specialist to provide first-line technical support for COFE software and related hardware. The role requires a foundation in computer science and a customer-first mindset, working closely with senior staff to resolve client issues and ensure smooth warehouse execution operations.

The ideal candidate has familiarity with SQL, Linux, and scripting languages such as Python, PHP, or Perl, plus experience in enterprise-level support and onsite

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 1–3 years of experience, or 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, database management (MySQL/MariaDB), and email systems (SMTP/IMAP).
  • Experience with SQL queries, Linux command line, and scripting languages such as Python, PHP, or Perl.
  • Exposure to enterprise-level technical support (not PC helpdesk).
  • Experience with onsite customer support and in warehousing or logistics industry.
  • Ability to do some IP network diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Explain complex problems to non-technical customers and keep them updated during troubleshooting.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Software Support Specialist is an entry-level position within the Software Support Specialist team at VARGO®. This role is responsible for providing first-line technical support for VARGO’s COFE® software and related hardware. The position requires a strong foundation in computer science or equivalent experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset. The Software Support Specialist 1 works closely with experienced team members to resolve client issues and ensure the smooth operation of warehouse execution systems.

Reports To: Customer Support Manager

Department: Software Support

Travel Required: Approximate 10%

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide technical support via phone, web, or email.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic software and hardware issues related to COFE® and integrated systems.
  • Use SQL to analyze data and resolve basic to moderate issues.
  • Document common issues and resolutions to contribute to the internal knowledge base.
  • Assist in maintaining troubleshooting guides and support documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize and resolve client issues efficiently.
  • Participate in on-site support for new implementations or major upgrades as needed.
  • Continuously learn and expand knowledge of COFE® software and related technologies
  • You have good personal communication skills, including explaining complex problems to people who are not familiar with that specific technology. You keep customers updated throughout the troubleshooting process.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical degree with 1–3 years of experience, or 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
