Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager for Devices & Services Security in Austin, TX. You will lead a team building automated security controls for Alexa-devices, smart home products, and related services, ensuring scalable, reliable protection for customers.

You will collaborate with security engineers and applied scientists to deploy agentic AI-based detection and enforcement, drive design decisions, and raise the bar for security outcomes across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery for automated security controls across the Devices & Services product portfolio.
• Lead, grow, and coach a team of software engineers; hire well and set a high bar.
• Partner with security engineers and applied scientists to turn hard security problems into durable, automated solutions including agentic AI-based approaches.
• Drive outcomes that make security consistent and accurate by design, removing human error that lets issues slip through.
• Work backwards from customer and business risk to decide where automation matters most.
• Set technical direction and hold the quality, reliability, and operational bar for the systems your team runs.
