Job summary

The Office of Management Information Systems (OMIS) within the Ohio Department of Health seeks a Software Development Specialist 1 to develop or modify computer applications, perform testing and debugging, and assist with analysis and design. The role centers on software testing/QA tools to ensure robust health department systems.

Responsibilities include writing test cases, executing scripts, validating results, and supporting deployment and UAT.

Qualifications

• Minimum 36 months combined work experience in developing/modifying programs, testing/debugging and design/analysis in computer applications.
• Alternate paths include associate degree with 18 months of related experience or undergraduate core program with 12 months related experience.

Responsibilities

• Write manual and automated test cases and scripts for unit and systems testing with minimal supervision.
• Execute test scripts and assist in executing functional tests independently.
• Verify and document test results to ensure software produces desired results.
• Create or modify test data and test plans per agency standards.
• Support user acceptance testing and software deployment activities.
