Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Specialist/Applications Tester in Herndon, VA. The role requires 5+ years of related experience, a TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance, and a strong background in software testing tools, test plans, and collaboration with developers.

You will develop test plans, execute tests, document results, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure quality across applications.

Qualifications

Documented experience with software testing tools and processes.
Experience developing repeatable test procedures, executing test scripts and documenting results.
Ability to work with developers to identify and resolve defects.
Ability to conduct software compatibility tests across programs, hardware, OS, or networks.
Documented experience with GitHub, JIRA and Confluence.
Experience translating requirements and user stories into test plans and acceptance criteria.
Ability to install, maintain, and use software-testing programs.
Plan test schedules or strategies per project scope or delivery dates.
Provide feedback to development on usability and functionality.
Test system modifications for implementation readiness.
Collaborate with stakeholders to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
Develop and present technical docs, test cases, reports, data sets for program reviews.
Participate in Agile software development and reporting.
Coordinate integration testing with other teams.
Collaborate with performance and security test teams as needed.

Responsibilities

Required skills and demonstrated experience:

Documented experience meeting with stakeholders, analyzing requirements, user stories and related artifacts, and translating these into test plans and well-defined acceptance criteria.
Ability to install, maintain, and use software-testing programs.
Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates.
Provide feedback and recommendations to development team on software usability and functionality.
Test system modifications to prepare for implementation.
Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate or diagnose problems and recommend possible solutions.
Development and presentation of technical documentation, test cases, test reports, test data sets and other briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates, and other presentations as directed.
Participating in the team’s Agile software development process and adhering to all reporting requirements.
Working with other enterprise service programs and other test teams to coordinate integration testing of their capabilities that will be consumed in the final system implementation.
Working with other performance and security test teams as appropriate.

Highly desired skills and demonstrated experience:

Demonstrated experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures.
Experience developing automated test scripts (Selenium or other).
Java development skills to integrate testing components.
