Job summary
HP is seeking a Software Product Security Engineer to contribute to secure software products across desktop, web, and cloud-based services. You will learn secure coding practices while assisting in design, implementation, testing, and maintenance under guidance of senior engineers.
With 0–2 years of software development experience, you will work within an agile team, participate in code reviews, and help deliver end-to-end security-focused solutions for Windows desktop apps, web APIs, and cloud
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/SE or related discipline.
- 0-2 years of software development experience.
- Internship, academic project, or co-op experience in software development is a plus.

- Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and security solutions.
- Participate in software development activities including coding, debugging, testing, and integration.
- Support the development and maintenance of Windows desktop applications and services.
- Assist in developing and maintaining web applications, APIs, and cloud-connected services.
- Troubleshoot software issues with guidance from senior team members.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Create and execute unit tests to verify software functionality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and learn software development best practices.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and team activities.
- Learn and apply secure coding and software security principles.
- Support the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud-based applications and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end software solutions.

Description -
This role supports the development and maintenance of secure software products under the guidance of senior engineers. The position focuses on learning software engineering and security best practices while contributing to the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of desktop, web, and cloud-based applications and services.

- Basic knowledge of one or more of the following: C/C++, C#, .NET / .NET Core, WPF, XAML, ASP.NET Core, JavaScript / TypeScript
- Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle practices.
- Basic knowledge of unit testing frameworks and methodologies.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Basic understanding of: Windows Registry, Certificates, File and folder permissions, Local and domain user security
- Familiarity with: Multi-threading, Sockets, Inter-process communication
- Basic understanding of: ReactJS or similar JavaScript frameworks, RESTful APIs, HTML5, CSS3, JSON
- Basic knowledge or exposure to cloud platforms such as: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Understanding of Cloud concepts including: Cloud-hosted applications and services, Containers (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, Identity and access management fundamentals, Cloud security best practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and security practices.
- Exposure to secure coding practices and software security concepts.
- Basic understanding of authentication, authorization, and encryption fundamentals.
- Experience through coursework, projects, or internships with: ReactJS, Python, Go, Rust, Django

The base pay range for this role is $123,100 to $150,400 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
