JOB TITLE: Software Lead Project Engineer
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
JOB SUMMARY: The Software Lead Project Engineer role is a full-time exempt position intended to function as the software team leader and interface to systems engineers and program/project management. The Software Lead Project Engineer will coordinate with Systems Engineering, Program Management, and other stakeholders to ensure software team tasking is aligned with project milestones and delivery dates. The Software Lead Project Engineer will lead Agile Scrum ceremonies, coordinate with the Software Configuration Manager for release planning, and work with the Engineering Lab managers to ensure the equipment needed for development and testing is ready and available.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
·Organize the Software Engineering Team tasking in accordance with project milestones, due dates, and product roadmaps.
·Coordinate with Systems Engineering on feature implementation, design, and testing.
·Coordinate with Test Engineering and Configuration Management.
·Assist in software architecture and design
·Follow directions from and report status to Program and Project Management.
·Keep track of complex software engineering designs, project deliverables, and schedules.
·Provide implementation details for complex software engineering tasks.
·Provide mentorship to less experienced software engineers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
·2+ years’ experience leading software engineering teams.
·5+ years’ experience as a software engineer.
·3+ years' experience with a managed memory language like C# or Java.
·3+ years' experience with languages like C or C++.
·3+ years' experience integrating devices and software.
·1+ years' experience in an Agile Scrum team or similar
·2+ years' experience with networking communications and protocols (TCP, UTP, etc.)
·1+ years' experience with serial device interfaces such as USB, RS-232, RS-485, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.)
·5+ years’ experience leading software engineering teams.
·5+ years' experience integrating devices and software.
·3+ years' experience with C# .NET 7 or higher
·3+ years' experience with Blazor web app development
KEY COMPETENCIES
This position requires an individual who is experienced in software engineering and personnel management. An individual who can see system-level concepts and translate those into specific software designs, concepts, and tasks while being able to convey those designs, concepts, and tasks in conversation and writing. The ideal candidate will be able to work with and lead the software engineering team while contributing to code development directly, mentoring other software engineers, working hand-in-hand with system engineers, while also communicating with project and program managers, and company management. They should possess the communication skills to understand non-technical design inputs and communicate system and software concepts to non-technical company and customer personnel.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Visual acuity must be high enough to view computer screens from a distance of 36 inches and to read customer documentation.
