Apex Systems is hiring an onsite Software Integration Engineer – Lab Automation for our client in Hagerstown, MD. The role focuses on developing and integrating software for automated test environments and data acquisition systems.

The ideal candidate has strong C#, SQL Server, and ASP.NET MVC experience, and can build interfaces and databases to support laboratory operations. First-shift schedule applies, with a 12-month contract and potential extensions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • OR 10+ years of relevant software development, automation, integration, or engineering laboratory experience may be considered in place of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience developing software or automation solutions for engineering, laboratory, testing, manufacturing, or similarly technical environments.
  • Strong programming experience with C#, Microsoft SQL Server, and ASP.NET MVC.
  • Experience developing and supporting test automation software, regression tools, or engineering applications.
  • Ability to integrate hardware and software through APIs and communication protocols.
  • Experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting relational databases.
  • Strong data reduction, analysis, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Experience documenting software defects and driving issues through verified resolution.
  • Familiarity with source control and collaborative software development practices.

  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, communication, and integration issues within engineering test environments.
  • Identify, prioritize, and document technical issues while driving verified solutions through completion.
  • Support data acquisition and control systems associated with test equipment, measurement systems, and analytical devices.
  • Utilize tools such as Vector CANalyzer, Kvaser CAN, and related PC-based test applications to evaluate software and hardware performance.
  • Use manufacturer APIs to customize tools and extend the functionality of laboratory equipment and testing applications.
  • Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and web-based user interfaces using ASP.NET MVC.
  • Partner with laboratory technicians, engineers, and technical stakeholders to understand testing needs and translate them into reliable software solutions.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation covering automation functionality, software requirements, system interfaces, and operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, data processing, and overall laboratory performance.

Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Software Integration Engineer – Lab Automation for our client based out of Hagerstown, MD.

This assignment is anticipated to be a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.


This will also have a first-shift Monday-Friday schedule.


Responsibilities

Experience

  • Familiarity with diesel engines and exhaust aftertreatment systems.

  • Experience supporting regulatory, performance, or durability testing.

  • Background creating custom applications that improve test procedures, data quality, and data reduction.
