Job summary

Forterra seeks a Software Integration Engineer - Data and Network to support field data pipelines, provide Level 2 remote support, and diagnose failures from the office so staff don’t travel to fix issues. The role prefers in-office candidates, with remote consideration for the right person, and entails roughly 25–33% travel across the year.

The role covers Linux, networking, and data/communication tooling; you’ll read/write Python to patch automation scripts and document fixes for self-service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Solid networking fundamentals including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing/switching, VLANs, VPNs, and troubleshooting.
• Comfortable with Linux and basic command-line debugging (logs, services, processes).
• Able to read and write Python for scripting and troubleshooting; strong attention to detail.
• Clear communicator who can guide non-experts remotely.
• Willing to travel to program sites — roughly 25–33% on average.
• Interest in working with agentic AI to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities

• Own the health of the field data pipeline: monitor data capture/upload from program sites, diagnose failures, and resolve remotely.
• Provide Level 2 remote support to Level 1 on-site staff and program teams across field-facing systems.
• Debug issues across the stack (Linux, networking, data and comms tooling) and coordinate ownership.
• Read/write Python to inspect, patch, and improve support scripts.
• Document recurring problems and fixes for on-site staff to self-serve.
• Travel to program sites for hands-on Level 1 support ~25–33% annually; contribute to software development when idle.
• Flex onto adjacent software and infrastructure tasks as needed.
