Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Software Integration Engineer to support mission-critical defense systems for a major program in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is responsible for integrating, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting software applications within complex Windows and Linux environments supporting national defense initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, software integration, scripting, and deployment automation. This individual will work closely with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, and program stakeholders to ensure successful installation, configuration, testing, and sustainment of software solutions across multiple environments.
This position requires hands‑on technical expertise, strong problem‑solving skills, and experience supporting software throughout the full system lifecycle within a highly collaborative and mission‑focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform software integration, installation, configuration, and deployment activities within classified and mission‑critical environments.
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot both Linux and Windows operating systems and supporting infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, C Shell, Python, and other scripting languages to improve deployment efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Support software build, release, and deployment activities across development, test, integration, and production environments.
- Diagnose and resolve application, operating system, networking, and integration issues.
- Collaborate with software developers and systems engineers to identify root causes of technical problems and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze system logs, application logs, and performance data to investigate and resolve system anomalies.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, deployment procedures, configuration management documentation, and user support materials.
- Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage work efforts, track issues, and document technical solutions.
- Support source code management, software baselines, and configuration control processes.
- Participate in software verification, validation, and system testing activities.
- Implement and support infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible.
- Assist with database administration, system monitoring, performance tuning, and environment sustainment activities.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, information assurance, and program security requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or another STEM-related discipline.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8570‑compliant certification).
- Experience supporting software integration, deployment, or system integration activities.
- Experience administering both Linux and Windows operating systems in enterprise or government environments.
- Proficiency developing automation scripts with Bash, Shell, Python, or related scripting languages.
- Experience troubleshooting software applications, system configurations, and deployment‑related issues.
- Experience creating and maintaining installation procedures, technical documentation, and operational guides.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and configuration management processes.
- Ability to work effectively within a cross‑functional engineering team.
