Job summary

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Airborne Software Platform Operations team, focusing on the F-35/ADP Mission Systems Interface and Build group. You will guide ~25 software engineers through design, development, delivery, and support of mission systems interfaces and builds.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic program management, and cross-functional collaboration with customers and internal IPTs, within a fast-paced defense environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM from an accredited university (Engineering/CS preferred).
• Recent software engineering management or team lead experience.
• Experience in software engineering, systems engineering, integration and test.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Manages software development activities across host systems, aircraft software, simulations, and lab environments.
• Oversees design, development, infrastructure, tooling, delivery, documentation, and engineering support of Mission Systems interfaces and builds.
• Applies knowledge of hardware/software, system software design, deployment, integration, AI, automation, CI/CD tooling, and IT infrastructure to address mission-critical problems.
• Adheres to standards, processes, and tools across the development life cycle; ensures software configuration controls are met.
• Coordinates subordinate recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.

This role will support the F-35/ADP Mission Systems Interface and Build team as a Software Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead a team of approximately 25 software engineers in the design, development, delivery, and support of Mission Systems interfaces and builds.

Core Responsibilities

• Manages software development activities across a multitude of host systems, including aircraft software, simulated systems, and laboratory environments that include constructive simulations, physical hardware, and system simulations.
• Oversees the design, development, infrastructure and tools, delivery, documentation, and engineering support of Mission Systems software interfaces and builds.
• Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, including system software design, deployment, and integration, AI, automation, CI/CD tooling, and IT infrastructure, to address business and mission-critical problems.
• Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Ensures software standards and configuration controls are met.
• Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions.
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college/university in a STEM discipline. Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science preferred.
• Recent formal software engineering management or software engineering team lead experience.
• Experience in software engineering, systems engineering, integration and test, or a related field.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00
The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
