Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to oversee the planning, development, deployment, and maintenance of custom applications. You will lead a software team, guide engineering best practices, and partner with business stakeholders to align solutions with goals.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years managing teams, strong PHP/JavaScript skills, and experience with CI/CD, AWS, and multi-language environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer/information science or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience managing software engineering teams, including work prioritization, coaching, and performance management of teams of 3+.
• 5+ years’ experience developing and supporting web-based applications.
• 2+ years’ experience leading software projects through planning, execution, and delivery.
• Proficiency with Git and GitHub, including branching, pull requests, code review, merging, conflict resolution, and repository management.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms and modern software delivery practices.
• Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems and CLI tools for server management and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and maintenance of custom applications and software, web-based and desktop-based.
• Apply the principles and techniques of software engineering to organizational needs and problems.
• Lead software projects through planning, execution, and delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to the team.
• Drive process improvements and cost-saving initiatives across projects.
