Job summary

Leonardo DRS Land Systems in Bridgeton, MO is seeking a full-time Manager, Software Engineer to supervise a team of software engineers, ensure on-time delivery, and manage development of complex software products. Hybrid work option available at the Bridgeton, MO facility. The role requires independent technical project completion, mentoring, and recruitment when needed.

U.S. Citizenship and DoD security clearance (or ability to obtain) is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Demonstrated people and technical leadership capabilities.
• Proven fundamentals in embedded development, algorithms, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
• Experience with C, C++, C#, and/or Java.
• Experience with Linux/Unix preferred.
• Ability to lead complex software systems through customer delivery.
• Ability to guide a software team through embedded design challenges.
• Strong communication with users, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe features, and strategy.
• Experience influencing best practices and improving engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a software engineering team focused on design, development, analysis, documentation, and testing of products and subsystems.
• Manage budget, cost, and schedule inputs and design assignments for the software department.
• Collaborate with staff to conceptualize systems and software designs.
• Mentor and coach engineers within and outside the team.
• Review customer specifications and design solutions considering cost as a variable.
• Ensure completion of tasks on time and in compliance with requirements.
• Participate in proposal preparation and customer meetings.
• Develop and document software system components and requirements.
