Job summary

DigiCert is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a software engineering team responsible for delivering reliable, scalable, and secure software solutions. You will focus on day-to-day technical leadership, people management, and delivery within a defined product area.

You will partner with Product, Architecture, and Operations to ensure the team meets roadmap goals and high-quality outcomes while maintaining security and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2–4 years in a people-leading role.
• Hands-on experience building and operating services on modern cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and frameworks (e.g., Java/Spring Boot, Node.js, or similar).
• Strong understanding of agile development, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Proven ability to lead a team to deliver high-quality software on time.

This role focuses on day-to-day technical leadership, people management, and delivery execution within a defined product or platform area. The Engineering Manager works closely with Product, Architecture, and Operations to ensure the team delivers high-quality outcomes aligned to roadmap and business goals.

What you will do

• Technical Leadership
  • Lead technical execution for a specific product, service, or platform area.
  • Ensure designs and implementations follow established architecture, security, and reliability standards.
  • Promote best practices in coding, code review, testing, CI/CD, observability, and performance tuning.
  • Partner with senior engineers and architects to plan and implement refactoring, modernization, and tech-debt reduction.
• People & Team Management
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of software engineers and senior engineers.
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations; provide regular feedback and run effective1:1s.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and skill development to build a strong, diverse team.
• Delivery & Execution
  • Collaborate with Product Management to refine scope, priorities, and release timelines for the team.
  • Own sprint planning, execution, and delivery for the team’s backlog.
  • Ensure high quality through testing, code reviews, and adherence to SDLC and compliance standards.
  • Identify risks and blockers early and drive resolution through coordination with partner teams.
• Operational Excellence
  • Monitor and improve the health of the services owned by the team (reliability, latency, errors, cost).
  • Participate in incident management, on-call rotations, and RCAs; ensure follow-through on action items.
  • Drive incremental improvements in stability, automation, and operational efficiency for the team’s services.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Product, Architecture, SRE/DevOps, Security, and QA to ensure alignment from design to release.
  • Represent the team in project discussions, status updates, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Translate product and business requirements into clear, actionable work for the team.

What you will have
