You’ll work out of our Binghamton location —an area known for its affordability, rich history, and proximity to the scenic Finger Lakes. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **What You’ll Do:****Technical Leadership*** Lead and mentor software engineers in designing, developing, and maintaining software for flight and mission simulators, ensuring high reliability and exceptional performance.* Modernize and enhance legacy codebases essential to simulator functionality, driving upgrades that improve stability and expand capability.* Collaborate closely with hardware, systems engineering, and program management stakeholders to align software development with program needs.* Lead projects using both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodologies and contribute to BOEs, IMPs, and IMS planning.* Troubleshoot complex issues in real-time or legacy systems to support high stakes pilot training outcomes.**People & Program Management** * Create and maintain a productive, supportive, and growth focused team environment.* Coach, motivate, and develop engineers to achieve excellence in performance and career progression.* Define roles and responsibilities and guide the adoption of best practice engineering processes and tools.* Support proposals, staffing plans, hiring, evaluations, and company communications. **Qualifications and Education Requirements****What You Bring:*** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).* 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with hands-on development in mission critical or realtime systems.* Minimum of 3–5 years leading teams, mentoring engineers, or serving as a technical lead.* Strong mastery of realtime/embedded or simulation development experience.* High initiative, strong ownership, positive attitude, and consistent follow-through.* Ability to motivate, coach, and elevate a team while contributing technically ~80% of your time.* Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access.
