Job summary

PCMI, LLC is seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager who can lead a technically strong team and set directions for AI-enabled software development. You will guide engineers, manage budgets, and ensure delivery aligned with business goals.

You will oversee timelines, provide technical leadership, and promote best practices while staying close to code. The role expects senior engineering leadership with a strong Azure/DevOps background in a global SaaS company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 3+ years in leadership role.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the SDLC, including coding standards, reviews, source control, build, testing, and live ops.
  • Proven experience with Azure cloud architecture (App Services, Service Bus, Azure SQL).
  • Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps (Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Octopus).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code).

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

We'relooking for a hands-on, technically strong Software Engineering Manager who thrives in ambiguity and can rally a team to ship high-quality software.You'llset technicaldirections, grow your engineers, and keep the team's work tightly aligned with what the businessneeds;while staying close enough to the code to earn your team's trust.

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects. This involves setting project timelines, allocating resources, and tracking progress against milestones.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the development team, helping to resolve complex technical issues and ensuring that the team follows best practices and coding standards.
  • Championing AI Engineering by encouraging the team to inject AI across the entire SDLC to drive efficiency gains.
  • Improving system performance and reliability and conducting code reviews and making technical contributions.
  • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and time, to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in software development projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Continuously assess and improve software development processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Ensure that software development activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and security protocols.
  • Ensure that software products meet quality standards and customer requirements by implementing rigorous testing procedures and quality assurance processes.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including clients, executives, and other departments, to understand requirements, provide updates on project status, and manage expectations.
  • Stay informed about new technologies, tools, and trends in software development, and assess their potential impact on current and future projects.
  • Address conflicts and disagreements within the development team or with other stakeholders in a constructive and timely manner.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers, ensuring they have the resources, support, and direction needed to meet project goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and communicative environment within the development team and across other departments such as product management, quality assurance, and operations.
  • Evaluate the performance of team members, provide feedback, and implement strategies for professional development and improvement.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trainsnew staff.
What You’ll Need to Join Our Team
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years in leadership role.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
  • Proven experience with Azure cloud architecture (App Services, Service Bus, Azure SQL, and related services).
  • Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Octopus).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code).
