Job summary

EarthOptics is seeking a Software Engineering Lead in Raleigh, NC. This role blends software with hardware, guiding Mobile GroundOwl, lab automation, and field-app integration.

You’ll own the app stack, build reliable systems, and collaborate across software, hardware, and product teams. The ideal candidate has a CS/CE/EE background, 2+ years of software experience, and comfort with React Native, Python, and embedded C/C++.

Qualifications

• What the candidate must have: a foundational degree plus software expertise and hardware literacy.
• Hands-on with mobile apps, Python, and embedded systems development.
• Experience with React Native, TypeScript/JavaScript, and C/C++ for embedded work.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering ownership of Mobile GroundOwl app and related systems.
• Improve reliability with testing, observability, and tooling across field environments.
• Design and integrate lab automation systems involving hardware and software.
• Collaborate across product, hardware, and operations teams to deliver durable solutions.
• Uphold coding standards, reviews, tests, security, and documentation.
