Job summary

Leidos' Defense Sector - Directed Energy Division in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive software development for electro-mechanical-optical experiments on an applied R&D contract. You will own significant parts of the software behind testbeds, data acquisition, and optical tracking, and mentor junior engineers.

The ideal candidate will work with real-time and embedded C/C++ in a Linux environment, develop data tools and MATLAB/Simulink models, and contribute to DevOps

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in CS or CE with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 2+ years.
• Hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience writing C/C++ in a Linux development environment.
• MATLAB/Simulink experience.
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration, and testing of C/C++ software for testbeds and optical tracking in Linux.
• Translate objectives into software requirements and architecture for electro-mechanical-optical experiments.
• Develop real-time and embedded software, including SBC applications and hardware I/O interfaces.
• Develop and maintain data acquisition, data reduction, and analysis tools, including MATLAB/Simulink models.
• Improve software test/validation, DevOps/SecDevOps pipelines, and engineering workflows.
• Support design, calibration, and field testing; troubleshoot hardware/software issues; turn field results into software enhancements.
• Serve as technical lead for small projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Communicate progress, risks, and solutions to Government customers.
