General Matter in the United States is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to help develop performant, safe, and high-quality software. You will work with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software engineers, chemical engineers, manufacturing engineers, nuclear engineers, materials scientists, and physicists to deliver reliable systems.

The role focuses on C++ and Python development, with responsibilities spanning design reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in CS or Engineering.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
• Strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, system design.
• Collaborative team member eager to learn in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and implementing high-performance software systems in C++ and Python, focusing on reliability and maintainability.
• Support architecture decisions around system design, performance trade-offs, and technology selection.
• Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews, upholding engineering best practices.
• Help build and maintain automated testing and CI/CD pipelines to support software quality at scale.
• Work closely with senior engineers on complex, ambiguous technical problems.
